I bought this baker so that I can bake Italian flat breads as per Jim Lahey's My Bread recipes (ie. baking in a clay pot) and it really works - it produces a wonderful crust simulating the old brick ovens of rural Italy with ease.

Clay Pot cooking/ roasting is not only healthy, the food is very full of flavor. It is an experience, I do think that the food tastes better. My mother loved making her meatloaf in her Roemertopf. I like the Roemertopf for roasting chicken and for pork dishes. I put the vegetables with the meat.Please never forget to water the clay pot before using it and do not preheat the oven. The pot has to gradually heat up in the oven. The water soaked lid will not only prevent the clay pot from breaking, it also keeps the food inside nicely moist.Therefore that clay is porous it can break, but with secured storage and proper handling (soaking) it can last a life time.I would recommend to buy a claypot cooking book at the same time The Best of Clay Pot Cooking mainly to get ideas and to get inspired to create own recipes.Enjoy!

I ordered this clay baker to bake bread in it. I really like how the bread tastes. I will try to cook meat or poultry in it too.What I didn't like, that first time the lid was broken. I waited for new one, and it was delivered broken again. The 3-rd time the lid was delivered safely and ok to my door. The customer service was very fast and nice. Thank you.
