3 out of 5 stars Lid flanges snap off too easily
nowann

I am a huge fan of Lock & Lock containers since I brought the first plastic one home from the local Korean mart. The plastic containers are great - though if you have Lock & Lock, you might recognize there is sometimes resistance to closing that last fourth flange after snapping shut the other three around the container. I have never had a problem with the plastic Lock & Lock flanges since the plastic container body can flex and give a little to where it needs to be to make sure the fourth lid flange isn't stressed too much as pressure is placed to snap it in shut.Unfortunately, the lid flanges have proven to be a huge problem for me on these glass Lock & Lock products. The main container body, being glass, obviously does not have the flexibility the plastic does so it is a bit harder to get the fourth lid flange snapped down securely without that added bit of pressure put into it. This has resulted in the fourth lid flange snapping off completely when I tried to close the two glass containers I purchased. The three other lid flanges are still on and will keep the lid in place, but the airtight/watertight seal is gone. The containers are only of use to me now as baking dishes. This was quite a disappointment. I suppose if you're particularly careful about placement of the lid and pressure, etc, you might get you lid flanges to last a few months longer than I did, though I was not rough at all with the pressure (I thought) and it broke about the third time I tried to snap down the lid flanges.
