I purchased this glass pan on another shopping site. If you are looking for a glass pie pan you probably need to keep looking. If on the other hand you are looking for a versatile but large glass baking dish this will work nicely. The sides of this glass dish are straight unlike most pie pans and it will make a large quiche, tart, or casserole. I use it to make a homemade double crust pot pie and it holds a huge amount of filling. A Pillsbury pie crust (in the red box) does not quite come fully up to the top lip of this pan. The second pie crust laid flat fits inside the pan and will seal if you pinch it all around the edges but it does not hang over the edge like it will on most pie pans. So expect this pan to hold large quantities. If like me you are making more of your family's dishes then this pan will become a favorite.The other great thing about the Simax brand is like the old Corning Ware and Pyrex brands this glass pan is made with borosilicate. Borosilicate is the ingredient that was used to make the old Pyrex and Corningware pans that were genuinely ovenproof. This won't shatter like today's Corningware and Pyrex will. I looked hard to find borosilicate glassware replacements and Simax is the real deal. I own several other Simax glass dishes and I feel safe using them in my kitchen because I know they won't explode. That peace of mind is worth the extra cost of this dish. That and the Simax will last as long as the stuff in our mother's kitchens did. Great product, reasonably priced, and highly recommended.
