Description

This large, 14-by-9-1/2-by-3-inch dish with 3-inch straight sides bakes a hefty helping of lasagne, a long row of tightly rolled black bean enchiladas, or even a savory roast leg of lamb with the ideal heat conduction for a superbly executed meal. An exquisite specimen of fine French pottery, this porcelain baker is simple in appearance with its milky white color, rounded corners and handles, and rolled edges yet durable due to its proprietary time-tested ingredients and thick-walled construction. The baker's pristine beauty and excellent heat retention make it a wonderful serving vessel that goes from oven to table, and its plain design is certain to blend with all dinnerware, from casual and modern to formal and vintage. Family-founded in 1818, the Pillivuyt porcelain factory still employs skilled artisans who use the original time-honored traditions of handcrafting each piece. Replacement molds are all handmade by craftspeople who have spent many years in training, and who shape them to the level of perfection that this superior bakeware requires. The result is a tough porcelain base that can withstand temperature extremes, making this baker safe to move among the oven, freezer, microwave, or broiler. And, with a little liquid in the baker, the pan can even be placed over a diffused flame on the stovetop. All pieces are glazed and fired at temperatures of about 2,500 degrees Fahrenheit, which produces a non-porous, rock-hard finish that easily cleans up by hand or in the dishwasher. The lead-free glaze is resistant to crazing and staining and won't absorb food odors or flavors. --Cristina Vaamonde

5 out of 5 stars Knocks the socks off new Pyrex
Magpie

Wow - I was looking for a replacement for my Pyrex baking dishes after having lost a glass 9x13 pan to thermal shock. (Scary!) This baker is definitely more expensive than the dishes you can pick up at your local big box, but sooooooooooooo much better. It's nice and deep - perfect for lasagne, casseroles, and hearty cobblers. (No more over-flowing fruit juices!) Nothing, and I mean nothing sticks to the glaze; clean up is literally a 2 minute soak and then a rinse. It's built heavy enough to tolerate some abuse, but it is light enough to move a full pan from the freezer to over. (Yes, it really goes directly from freezer to oven, and it won't shatter.) I will be cooking with this pan for the rest of my life!

5 out of 5 stars Perfect size lasagna pan
AB

I have the medium sized lasagna pan and I'm so happy with it that I decided to buy the large one too. The size and depth is perfect for lasagna or for roasting and this pan has a hefty weight on it. It will not stain or discolor with use the way my Corningware white lasagna pan did over time. The only area that will absorb stains is the bottom which has no glaze but the rest will remain clean. It's a superior product that will never wear out.

I have found my LAST kitchen bake ware. Bought the lasagna baker, and immediately ordered a second, smaller baker. These products are remarkable... Definitely worth their expense. Clean like a breeze! Just sorry I discovered this company after I collected so many less expensive products.
