Marinex Glass Bakeware production began over 50 years ago by Santa Marina, the largest glass manufacturer in Latin America. Located in Brazil, Santa Marina has been producing different glass products since 1895. The factory location is close to raw material deposits of boron and sand which is rich in color and quality. During the production process, these raw materials are combined using heat to make borosilicate glass. Borosilicate glass is resistant to changes in temperatures used in cooking and baking. The raw materials also give Marinex glass bakeware a slight bluish tint consistant throughout all pieces. Marinex Glass Bakeware offers several shapes and sizes that have countless uses in culinary activities and are prominent by their beauty, durability, and ease of cleaning. It can be used to prepare, bake, and serve food as well as to freeze prepared food. It is safe for both conventional ovens and microwave ovens. Marinex Bakeware can go from the freezer/refrigerator to a pre-heated oven where the oven temperature does not exceed 100C or 212F to start. However, Marinex Bakeware should not be used on stovetop burners or over a direct flame. This is a 1.9qt. medium square baking dish with a plastic lid that measures 9-5/8" x 8-3/4" x 2". Customer Reviews

3 out of 5 stars I got a warped one
Buffy

I was very excited to get this baking dish, especially with all the publicity about what it's made of. It is a very beautiful light blue tinged glass. Unfortunately, when I set it down on my countertop it rocked back and forth. It might still be usable that way but that was not acceptable for me so I sent it back. Maybe I just got a bad one.

3 out of 5 stars Marinex Bakeware; strange instructions
B. Wells

The dish looks great and I am looking forward to using it. But I just read the tiny instruction booklet glued to the inside bottom of the dish. It is in about a dozen languages and in UK, it says "do not use your Marinex in a preheated oven".Humm.... let me see. Do not use in a preheated oven. Isn't that about the same as saying do not cook with it? Its heat proof, but you are not allowed to cook with it. Of course, I am going to use it in a preheated oven, but I just thought you should know ahead of time that this is really just for kitchen decoration. How on earth are you going to cook brownies or a cake, if you cannot preheat the oven? Has anyone ever tried to make a cake and start cooking it in a cold oven? I am giving it three stars just on the principle of these ridiculous instructions. I assume it will actually work well in a preheated oven. I will let you know if it cracks in a preheated oven!

3 out of 5 stars Narrow side handles
EB

Like the former reviewer, I received a warped dish with uneven bottom. My main comment, however, is regarding the convenience of holding it while wearing oven mitts. The side handles are too narrow to allow a secure grip; and while I returned the dish before trying it, I realized that this will be a problem when the dish is hot and cannot be handled with bare hands.
